Innovation in flame-retardant fabrics: Dabedan introduces new Van de Wiele looms

Velvet, renowned for its opulence and smooth touch, traces its origins back to the distant East in the 12th century. In Spanish, its name derives from ‘tercio,’ signifying its three-dimensional nature, and ‘pelo,’ describing its texture.

However, it was in the European city-states, particularly in Italy and Flanders during the 16th century, that the first pre-industrial productions of this luxurious fabric emerged. Originally crafted from the finest available silk and wool, velvet was reserved for the most exquisite environments.

With over 40 years of experience, Dabedan stands out as a producer of this item. Today, velvet production remains a complex art that demands precision at every step.

We utilize the most select flame-retardant raw materials to supply the theatrical, entertainment, automotive, hospitality, and, of course, home decoration industries.

The new VSi22 model represents a revolution in weaving, being an intelligent machine that redefines the process.

We are thrilled to announce that we have already implemented the first two state-of-the-art Van de Wiele velvet looms. Soon, a third will join them, gradually replacing our beloved older versions.
