CARE LABELS SYMBOLS

There are five basic symbols : The bucket, the triangle, the Square, the iron and the Circle.

A washing symbol , also called care symbol is a pictogram representing a washing method , for example , drying , dry cleaning and ironing of fabrics . Such symbols are written on labels, known as care labels , attached to clothing or the technical characteristics of the tissues, to indicate how a particular item should be cleaned .

There are different standards for care labels for different countries / regions. In some standards, pictograms coexist with or are complemented by written instructions.

GINETEX , based in France, is the European association for textile care labeling , formed in 1963 after the academic conferences in the late 1950s formed to define a labeling standard.

Care label describes the permissible treatment of the garment without damaging the textile . If this treatment is necessary or sufficient , it is not mentioned . A milder treatment than prescribed is always acceptable . The symbols are protected and its use is required to comply with license conditions . Mislabelling is prohibited. A bar below each symbol requires a milder treatment than usual and a double bar a very delicate treatment.
